By default, the "thumbnails" gallery style always shows your photos in a square aspect ratio. You can show your photos in their original aspect ratio instead by adding this code to a CSS block on your gallery:

You might also want to add this CSS in order to remove the square-shaped background area that appears behind the thumbnails:
