Machida Squirrel Garden (Machida Risuen / 町田リス園) is a cute little zoo with rabbits, guinea pigs, and a big squirrel enclosure with a ton of squirrels running around! New Zealand doesn't have squirrels so this was a novelty for us :).
You can buy packets of squirrel food for 100 yen each. You're then given an oven glove to wear while feeding the squirrels, but we found that they were quite well behaved, so we didn't bother to wear the gloves. The protection might be appreciated by easily spooked kids, though.
The only downside for us was the heat! It was a blooming hot day (~36 degrees Celsius) and the squirrel enclosure was in full sun and several degrees hotter than the surrounding areas. I felt like I was going to pass out at one point!
